How can the vacuum grease improve the moisture-proofness on the led work lights

High quality vacuum grease is a pro-level protection for extending the life of LED work lights, especially if they are frequently exposed to heavy rain, harsh corrosion, or humid environments. While most of led work lights come with rubber O-rings or gaskets under the cover, these seals can dry out, crack, or become pinched over time.

Silicone-based  vacuum grease is naturally hydrophobic, meaning it repels water after it is applied. When applied to the seals of an LED work light, it fills the microscopic gaps and pores in the rubber rings. If moisture tries to seep through the seam where the lens meets the housing, the grease pushes back, preventing capillary action from pulling moisture inside.


Rubber gaskets tend to degrade after some time when exposed to heat cycles and UV rays. Vacuum grease keeps these seals filled so as to help the gasket seat perfectly into its groove during assembly. Any minor imperfections or scratches can be compensated in the aluminum housings.

Teehon applies some Japan-made Shin-Etsu vacuum grease onto the high quality led work lights. It is smellless and silicon-based to avoid causing types of rubber gaskets to swell and eventually disintegrate. Thin layer is formed inside the front plate and achieve a light,translucent coating on the waterproof rings inside.On the back of some high-end led work lights, "breather" check valve is installed at the back. The vacuum grease will not be applied on the patch to avoid step-by-step accumulation of condensation to build up inside. For some of led driving lights and led light bars installed with DT connectors, the workers will apply a bit of vacuum grease to waterproof terminals in order to prevent corrosion or green crust that might from on the pins. In doing so, the whole lamps can be moisture-proofness improvement.
